Dr Sarno was Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine, at the New York University School of Medicine and attending physician at the Howard A. Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, New York University Medical Center. He was a pioneer and provided the groundwork for the understanding of TMS. In spite of the thousands of people he helped becoming pain-free during his long career, he faced a lot of criticism from his colleagues.

Schubiner

Dr Howard Schubiner

Howard is an internist at Providence Hospital in Michigan and a professor at Michigan State University.

He’s the author of  Unlearn Your Pain in which using cutting-edge research he demonstrates that the underlying reason for much chronic pain is brain sensitization and learned neural pathways, rather than actual tissue damage. Dr Schubiner has used this new understanding to develop a unique program to reverse pain. He has also conducted research that shows the efficacy of this approach.

Dr David Hanscom, M.D.

Dr. Hanscom is an orthopedic complex spinal deformity surgeon who was based in Seattle, WA for over 32 years. He retired from his practice in 2019 to focus on teaching people how to break loose from the grip of chronic mental and physical pain – with and without surgery.

“It was my observation that most spine surgery should never be performed. A significant part of my practice was helping patients out of a deep hole caused by multiple failed spine surgeries. I have learned that the central nervous system is the key player in the development of chronic pain. Unless it is addressed further, surgeries seldom are successful.”

Alan Gordon, is a psychotherapist and the founder of the Pain Psychology Centre in Los Angeles. He developed Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), a mind-body protocol that has transformed the lives of thousands of his patients.

PRT is a system of psychological techniques that rewires the brain to break out of the cycle of chronic pain.

The University of Colorado-Boulder recently conducted a large randomized controlled study on PRT, and the results are remarkable. By the end of the study, the majority of patients were pain-free or nearly pain-free. What's more, these dramatic changes held up over time.
